Sony’s PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) is an amazing headset, but unfortunately, it lacks native support for 3D Blu-ray playback on the PlayStation 5. Luckily, with the new PSVR2 PC adapter, you can use entirely free software to enjoy your 3D movies in a massive virtual cinema. In this guide, I’ll show you step-by-step how to do this without re-encoding your movie files, saving you time and hassle.

What You’ll Need

  • PSVR2 headset and PC adapter (set up and configured for SteamVR)

  • A 3D Blu-ray movie (example: Top Gun 3D)

  • A Blu-ray drive for your PC

  • MakeMKV (to rip the Blu-ray to an MKV file)

  • BD3D2MK3D (to convert the MKV file to a side-by-side 3D format)

  • AVISynth+ (a required supplementary tool for BD3D2MK3D)

  • Bigscreen Beta (a free VR app on Steam that allows you to watch movies in a virtual theater)

Step 1: Rip the 3D Blu-ray with MakeMKV
