beCreatus GR10: GREAT USB-C Dock + 4K 120FPS Support

BenQ recently sent over the beCreatus GR10 USB-C Dock, a compact docking solution designed primarily for handheld gaming devices like the Steam Deck. Even without a dedicated handheld PC on hand, this dock quickly proved it has far broader appeal—working just as well with gaming laptops, smartphones, and full desktop setups.
After spending time unboxing it and testing it in both living-room and workstation scenarios, here’s a closer look at what the GR10 offers and who it’s for.
Minimalist Unboxing and Design
Right out of the box, the GR10 makes a strong first impression. The packaging is clean and understated, and aside from basic documentation, the dock itself is the main attraction.
The design is minimalist and premium, with a compact footprint that doesn’t clutter a desk or entertainment center. It also features a folding stand mechanism, allowing it to double as a dock and stand for handheld devices—saving space while keeping everything accessible.
Ports, Power, and Key Features
Despite its small size, the BenQ beCreatus GR10 is packed with high-end connectivity options:
2× USB-A ports
2× USB-C ports
USB4 main cable (up to 40 Gbps)
100W Power Delivery passthrough
HDMI 2.1 (supports up to 4K at 120 Hz)
2.5 Gb Ethernet
Built-in cable management slot
Magnetic right-angle USB-C connector
The cable design is especially thoughtful. The magnetic, right-angle connector can be tucked neatly into the base when not in use, reducing desk clutter and strain on ports.
Living Room Test: 4K Gaming at 120 Hz
To put the GR10 through its paces, it was connected to a Sony Bravia 48″ A90K TV using a gaming laptop (ROG Flow X13). With HDMI 2.1 enabled, the dock successfully delivered a 4K 120 Hz signal without issues.
Paired with Ethernet, USB controllers, and full power delivery, the setup worked seamlessly—ideal for emulation, couch gaming, or even a compact living-room PC. Even though some emulators can’t hit 120 Hz natively, the smooth output and stable connection made the experience noticeably better than lower-end USB-C dongles.
Desktop Setup: A Dock That Replaces Cheap Dongles
The GR10 really shines in a workstation environment. Replacing a budget USB-C dongle (limited to 4K 30 Hz), the BenQ dock instantly felt like an upgrade.
It was also tested with a Samsung smartphone using DeX mode, turning the phone into a desktop-like experience with keyboard, mouse, Ethernet, and charging—all through a single cable. While DeX itself doesn’t support 4K 120 Hz, the dock handled everything else flawlessly and left room for future devices that do.
The inclusion of Ethernet is a big win here, especially for users who want stable wired networking at their desk.
Performance and Reliability
Over time, many USB-C dongles tend to show their weaknesses:
Choppy display output
Limited refresh rates
Inconsistent connections
The beCreatus GR10 avoids those pitfalls. It consistently delivers smooth video, reliable power, and fast networking—making it suitable for high-resolution monitors and modern workflows.
Price and Availability
Retail price: ~$109 USD
Availability: Not officially available in Canada at the time of review
While availability may vary by region, the feature set makes the price reasonable, especially compared to premium docks that lack HDMI 2.1 or high-refresh-rate support.
Final Verdict: More Than Just a Steam Deck Dock
Even without a handheld gaming PC, the BenQ beCreatus GR10 proves to be an excellent all-around dock. It works just as well for:
Gaming laptops
Desktop workstations
Smartphones with desktop modes
Future handheld PCs and consoles
If your laptop or device fits in the dock’s stand, it’s also a smart way to save desk space while gaining serious connectivity.
With handheld gaming devices continuing to grow in popularity, the GR10 feels like a future-proof investment—one that already excels as a general-purpose USB-C dock today.
